The company M. I. Hummel

M. I. Hummel is a traditional company from Rödental in Upper Franconia in Bavaria, which was founded in 1935 and is today appreciated all over the world for its artisan crafts. The brand is best known for its small, intricately designed and hand-painted porcelain figurines, the so-called Hummel figurines, which have been produced in a wide variety of versions and finishes for over 80 years.

These figurines are based on the designs of their creative namesake, Maria Innocentia Hummel, a Franciscan nun who exercised her artistic talent with drawings of children playing and other motifs in the convent. When these were discovered by an entrepreneur with an interest in art, the success story took its course.

The assortment - from Hummel figurine to Christmas tree ornament

The best-known figures are without a doubt the Hummel figurines of which over 1000 different have now been created. The approx. 15 cm tall figurines are often limited and mostly show children in everyday situations, for example, singing, playing or hiking. In addition, there are also special editions decorated with Swarovski crystals, for example. The figures have collectors and fans worldwide, and can also be admired in the Berta Hummel Museum.

Over the years, additional items have supplemented the assortment. For example, nativity figures designed in the style of Hummel figurines, plates showing the figurines, or even lamps in which the small figures are incorporated.

M. I. Hummel distributes its quality products with the help of selected specialist dealers. A select range of the figurines is also available at Käthe Wohlfahrt. Among them, for example, the figurines "Silent Night, Holy Night" or " Mein Edelweiss", with which you can complement your collection.
