When the German Christmas Museum opened its doors in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in 2000, it was the first of its kind in Germany. Born from the desire to document the historical roots of German Christmas traditions and bring them to life, it quickly became a special attraction for visitors from all over the world.

The World-Famous Weihnachtsdorf (Christmas Village) – A Place Where Time Stands Still

In the heart of the romantic old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber – just a few steps from the market square – stands the Weihnachtsdorf (Christmas Village) of Käthe Wohlfahrt. Opened in 1981, it was the third year-round Christmas experience store of Käthe Wohlfahrt – and remains one of the most impressive to this day.
