A beautiful custom from the Erzgebirge
Even today, in Seiffen and other Ore Mountain communities on Sundays in Advent, carol singers go from house to house with lantern and shining star, wishing the people a blessed Christmas season with chorales and festive songs.
The little singers of the boys' choir in this setting are wrapped in the classic black cloaks and wear round black hats. One boy traditionally carries a star stick and his lantern glows with warm light. The singing boys at his side also hold a songbook in their hands.
